2023-ongoing
A world-leading hub for anthropological research, education and public engagement on mental health, housed at SOAS University of London
Anthropology is the study of what it is to be human in a complex and changing world.
CAMHRA is a pioneering new academic centre that bridges the fields of anthropology and mental health.
As societies grapple to respond to the scale and complexity of mental health needs, CAMHRA contributes anthropological perspectives to a growing global understanding of how societies can understand mental distress and build effective systems of care.
In order to have real-world impact at scale and meet its ambitious goals, CAMHRA needs to reach beyond the bounds of academia, forging meaningful partnerships within healthcare and policy. As such, the story of their work - and the ways and means through which they tell it - must be accessible, resonant and relevant to those varied stakeholders.
Since its founding in 2024 through a major UKRI grant, I have worked with CAMHRA to develop and implement a communications strategy that positions them as a truly groundbreaking academic leader on the global stage - with powerful reach, relevance and impact within and beyond academia. I worked closely with the founding team to articulate the unique story and ethos of the Centre; led the development of their brand identity, website and digital presence; and provided training to the team as a whole.
I continue to provide creative direction, production and strategic support to the team.
